A Voice for Just Climate Action: Neji Hdidar

Neji Hdidar, from the Kerkennah archipelago, witnessed the time when fathers and grandfathers thrived while working in the sea, enjoying an abundance of fish, sponges, and octopus. Unfortunately, today, numerous fish species are extinct, and the most significant loss in Kerkennah is the disappearance of sponges. Sponge fishing used to be a vital source of income for the inhabitants of several regions in the Kerkennah Islands. However, the decline of sponges has greatly impacted those who relied on sponge fishing as their profession, affecting approximately four or five areas in the islands.
